Applications are invited for the above post to work on a project fundedby the Wellcome Trust, on “Fully human antibodies for understandingFc-receptor mediated immunity to malaria”. This project will expand onour recent work demonstrating the importance of Fc gamma RI in immunityto the disease (McIntosh et al, 2007 PLoS Pathog. 18;3(5):e72; Pleass& Holder, 2005, Nat. Rev. Micro. 3: 893-9). The work involvessignificant collaborative efforts with Professor Martin Glennie (TenovusCancer Research Laboratories, University of Southampton) and thesuccessful candidate will therefore be expected to travel between thetwo laboratories.
The person appointed will join a thriving malaria group within theSchool of Biology – see: http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/genetics/research/pbi.php.
Candidates must possess a PhD in human molecular immunology orequivalent qualification in a related discipline. Experience of FcRtransgenic/knockout mouse models and/or engineering antibodies, is desirable.
Salary will be within the range £25,134 – £32,796 per annum, dependingon qualifications and experience (salary can progress to £35,837 perannum subject to performance). This post is available from 1 March 2008and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three years.
