Description
We offer a one or two years postdoc position in the field of single molecule studies combining fluorescence and micromanipulation. The Nanobiophysics lab is part of ESPCI, located in the heart of the Latin quarter of Paris. ESPCI is one of the most outstanding French institutions committed to the highest level of original and innovative research.
Main research topics of the Nanbiophysics lab concern the dynamics of DNA and RNA folding and the corresponding biological activites. We use different single molecule techniques, including optical trapping, nanopore threading and fluorescence energy transfer. Some current projects consist in studying the activity of RNA helicases of psychrophililic gamma-proteobacteria, undestanding the ejection of bacteriophages DNA through bacterial membranes, using nanopores to look at the dynamics of cotranscriptional folding of RNA.
We are looking for outstanding, highly motivated candidates that will have the freedom to join one of our projects or to propose a new related one based on his/her own ideas. A good background in experimental physics is required and experience in biophysics and/or molecular biology will be a plus.
The candidate will not only benefit from in house facilities (single molecule instrumentation, molecular biology lab, clean room for soft lithography) but also from our close collaborations with biologists and theoreticians.
