Description
Post-doctoral Research Associate
A postdoctoral molecular biochemist/microbiologist position is availablein a BBSRC-funded project for a fixed-term period of 25 months to studythe highly unusual iron-responsive systems for gene expression inRhizobium and, by inference other related, pathogenic bacteria (seeRodionov et al (PloS Computational Biology 2, issue 12, e163). You musthave completed a PhD in a relevant subject (submitted or granted), andhave experience in laboratory research in molecular biochemistry.
The Johnston and Le Brun laboratories have shown that the systems ofgene regulation are wholly different from the conventional ones in E.coli and other model bacteria. We require an excellent post-doc todevelop our understanding, at a molecular level, of how a novelregulatory haem-binding protein exerts its widespread regulatoryproperties in response to iron availability (seeTodd et al Mol Gen Genom275, 564-577).
Informal enquiries will be welcomed by Andy Johnston(http://biobis.bio.uea.ac.uk/raesql/JohnstonA.aspx) or Nick Le Brun (http://www.uea.ac.uk/cm/home/schools/sci/cap/people/faculty/nel).
More information about the Schools of Biological Sciences and J ChemicalSciences are at http://www.uea.ac.uk/bio/ and http://www1.uea.ac.uk/cm/home/schools/sci/cap
Interview date: Week beginning 14 January 2008.
