Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Statistical Cancer Genomics

Grade 7: £29,249 to £35,938 with a discretionary range to £39,257p.a.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Statistical Cancer Genomics to research and develop Bayesian statistical models for clinical diagnosis and targeted therapy in haematological cancers. You will make a substantial contribution to the advancement of haematological cancer diagnosis and treatment by developing models of genomic variation and association of such variation with clinical endpoints using data generated from high-throughput genotyping arrays and next generation sequencing platforms.
You will be expected to report on results and aid the writing of reports for publication. Working as part of an interdisciplinary project, you will plan and monitor project deadlines, and provide updates on the status of the project.
You will have a PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science and experience in Bayesian analysis and applied statistical modeling of high-dimensional datasets. You will have experience of developing scientific techniques and be proficient in the use of statistical programming language, specifically MATLAB or R. You will need strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to deliver results.
The position is funded by The Wellcome Trust & the UK Department of Health and is fixed term for up to 18 months in the first instance with the possibility of an extension dependant on continued funding.
