Description
Research Associate in Molecular Biology of Adaptation to DNA damage 100%fte
The Crucible Laboratory at the Centre for Life is part of the Institute for Ageing and Health, a centre of excellence for research into ageing. The Crucible brings together research groups focused on genome’s stability. Applicants are invited to apply for a Wellcome Trust funded, 2-year position, within the group of Dr. Laura Maringele. The group’s main interest is in the ability of cells to adapt to DNA damage. This is a little understood process in which genomic guardians develop tolerance to old lesions and allow cells to proliferate with broken chromosomes, while remaining alert to new insults. The successful candidate will investigate factors involved in the adaptation process, initially using budding yeast as a model system and later mammalian tissue culture. Experience of molecular biology, biochemistry and microscopy are required.
