POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE immediately for NIH-supported studiesfocused on cellular and molecular mechanisms of acute and persistentpain. Particular focus is on roles of Transient Receptor Potential (TRP)ion channels in sensory neuron responses to heat, cold and mechanical force.
Candidate will use a combination of functional approaches includingskin-nerve recordings, patch clamp electrophysiological recordings, andFura-2 calcium imaging in several transgenic mouse lines. Models ofchronic pain utilized will include cancer pain, nerve injury andinflammation.High motivation and excellent communication skills areessential. Electrophysiology experience and/or a strong molecularbiology background preferred.
