Euro-laminopathies Network
“Nuclear Envelope-linked Rare Human Diseases:
From Molecular Pathophysiology towards Clinical Applications”
This is a Specific Targeted Research Project within the EU’s 6thFramework Programme, which brings together an interdisciplinary team ofhuman geneticists, clinical researchers, structural biologists,molecular cell biologists, and industrial partners at leadingInstitutions across Europe in a joint effort to address human diseasesderived from the alteration of the cell nucleus, specifically thenuclear lamina and its associated components.
The successful applicant will work in the group of Olga Mayansaffiliated to both the newly established Structural Biology unit of theSchool of Biological Sciences, University of Liverpool and theBiozentrum of the University of Basel. The candidate will be primarilybased at the Liverpool site. The selected researcher will engage in thebiochemical, biophysical and structural analysis of protein complexesinvolving lamina-associated proteins.
A solid background in molecular biology and protein expression isrequired as well as experience in X-ray crystallography. Preference willbe given to applicants with a demonstrated record in the biochemicaland/or biophysical analysis of protein:protein complexes.
