Description
Position I
Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, position number 84737, UHM Coll of Nat Sci – Chemistry, (Manoa), tenure track, starting Fall 2008, subject to availability of funds.
Duties: Teach graduate and undergraduate courses, direct graduate research and contribute to other departmental activities as required.
Minimum qualifications:
For rank I-3 (Asst Prof): PhD in the chemical sciences or closely related field, evidence of research productivity and demonstrated potential for establishing a vigorous, funded research program in Organic Chemistry, and the ability to contribute to the department’s teaching.
For rank I-4 (Assoc Prof): Same as rank I-3 with a minimum of four years at the Assistant Professor rank or equivalent.
For rank I-5 (Full Professor): Same as rank I-4 with a minimum of four years experience at the Associate rank or equivalent. Pay range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position II
Visiting Assistant/Associate/Full Professors of Chemistry, UHM Coll of Nat Sci – Chemistry, (Manoa), temporary, non-tenure track, part and/or full time for one or both semester of the 07/08 academic year.
Duties: Teaching assignments in General, Organic, Instrumental Analysis, Analytical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry as assigned. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry.
Minimum of four years of experience at the Associate Professor level for appointment at Full level, minimum of four years at the Assistant Professor level for appointment at the Associate level.
Desirable qualifications: Postdoctoral experience and teaching experience appropriate to the course subject matter for appointment at the Assistant Professor level.
Pay range: Commensurate with experience and dependent on course load.

Position III
Postdoctoral Fellow, UHM Coll of Nat Sci – Chemistry, (Manoa), temporary, non-tenure track, to begin January 2008. One-year appointment.
Duties: (1) Synthesis of organic and organometallic compounds for projects involving transition metal-catalyzed organic transformations, including polymerizations. (2) Supervise graduate and undergraduate student research.
Minimum qualifications: (1) PhD in Chemistry. (2) at least 2 years experience with the following: (a) NMR structure determination of small molecules and polymers. (b) analytical separation skills including HPLC and/or GPC. (c) Schlenk techniques. Pay range: $36,000/yr.
