Description
Radiation Oncology and Biology is recruiting a Post-doctoral Research Scientist. This full time post is an exciting opportunity to join a research group at the University headed by Dr Madalena Tarsounas.
The primary goal of research in Dr. Tarsounas’ laboratory is to understand how homologous recombination, a pathway of DNA repair essential in all cell types, contributes to telomere regulation and prevents genomic instability. The ultimate goal is to identify molecular mechanisms of telomere protection and chromosome integrity that can be useful in prevention of tumorigenesis.
The appointed candidate will have a PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology or a related subject, technical competence in standard molecular biological techniques and cell biology. A background in the field of telomere and telomerase and/or DNA repair would be desirable. The post is funded by Cancer Research UK and is offered for two years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension for a third year.
