Post-doctoral Position at the CEA-Grenoble
Location
Grenoble, France
Date Posted

Starting Date
from October, 2007
Description
A post-doctoral position will be available from October 2007 at the CEA-DRFMC, Grenoble, in partnership with the CNRS (Institut Néel) for a highly motivated solid-state physicist or
spectroscopist in order to participate in the start of a new CEA-CNRS project on the implementation of a spin quantum computer. The successful candidate will work on a multidisciplinary environment involving spectroscopic measurements (EPR, NMR), nano-scale fabrication and chemistry. The principle diagram of this computer is based on the initial idea of Kane for nuclear spins in a Si film, but with electronic spins in place of nuclear spins. This project will consist of two main phases. The first, corresponding roughly to the first year, will be devoted to an extension of EPR studies on ensembles of spins in different bulk and thin film matrices at 4He temperatures and above
(http://www.nature.com/nnano/journal/v2/n1/abs/nnano.2006.174.html) and secondly to the definition of micromachined test structures to be made during the second
phase.
The goal will be to test previously identified physical effects, to address and couple single spins and to detect their Rabi oscillations. The detection of single-spin Rabi oscillations should be achieved during the second phase, during which detection devices will be made in close collaboration with the CEA-LETI. Test of implanted or single-ion epitaxied devices or molecular devices will be done during this second year and after.
The candidate will maintain, from the beginning, a strong coordination between the CEA-DRFMC, LETI and the Institut Néel, opening to the second phase where LETI should be more actively involved.
Funds are secured for a salary for 1 Year (renewable).
