POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISTANTS (2 POSITIONS)

Two postdoctoral research positions are available to work with Dr Andrey Panteleyev, who will soon be joining Professor Irene Leigh’s Cancer Research UK Skin Tumour Laboratory at Dundee. Applicants should be highly-motivated and skilled individuals in the early stages of their postdoctoral careers and be interested in studying the basic mechanisms of skin homeostasis, tumourigenesis, and cancer. Two project areas are on offer:

Ref: MD/1934NON – Project 1 is aimed at identifying and understanding the significance of chromatin modifications and the upstream regulatory signaling networks inepigenetic regulation of coordinated epithelial gene expression in normal skin and in environmentally-modulated skin disorders. Knowledge of epigenetics and related laboratory techniques is desirable.

Ref: MD/1935/NON – Project 2 involves identification of hypoxia-dependent and –independent signal transduction pathways implicated in control of skin vasculogenesis in normal and diseased skin. This project will also apply the use of tet operator (tetO) minimal promoter based techniques to identify and characterize genes involved in these processes.

Both posts are funded by CR-UK for 2 years in the first instance and appointment on Grade 7 will be made according to qualifications and experience. Candidates should have a PhD with a strong background in cell, molecular, or developmental biology. Familiarity with tissue culture techniques is essential, while demonstrable skills in standard molecular methods (cloning, blotting, RT- PCR, CoIP, ChIP) and immunohistochemistry would be an advantage. It is expected that the successful candidates be capable of productive, self-directed research as well as close collaboration with other group members.
