Description

The Department of Medicine is seeking a full-time post-doctoral fellow in a Pulmonary and Critical Care Division Laboratory.

Summary of Lab Focus: Study of the importance of apoptotic cell removal in the regulation of lung inflammation. The laboratory focuses on the mechanisms behind aberrant apoptotic cell removal in a variety of lung diseases, including COPD and cystic fibrosis.

Laboratory duties and responsibility will include a mixture of both in vitro and in vivo studies into the biology of apoptotic cell phagocytosis. In vitro assays include phagocytic assays, immunoprecipitation and Western Blotting, Rho GTPase activity assays, molecular biologic techniques (overexpression, dominant negative and siRNA constructs) immunofluorescent and immunohistochemical staining and flow cytometry. Applicants will also be expected to become proficient with handling and performing experiments with laboratory animals (mice and rats).

Minimum requirements: PhD. in cell biology, molecular biology or related field. The salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
