Description
A postdoctoral fellow position is available at the University of Pennsylvania to study the mouse spermatogonial stem cell self-renewal and differentiation using transplantation, in vitro expansion of stem cells, and genetic approaches. Spermatogonial stem cell is one of the only two mouse adult stem cells for which transplantation has been developed. Functional transplantation is the most powerful approach to study the regulation of adult stem cell functions. The laboratory is currently focused on two aspects of the germline development: spermatogonial stem cell biology and chromosome dynamics during meiosis. The laboratory is strong in mouse genetics (knockout and transgenesis) and cell biology. The potential candidate will characterize and utilize the mouse models already developed in the laboratory to study spermatogonial stem cells, and will be responsible for generating new mouse mutants. More information about the laboratory can be found at our website http://www.vet.upenn.edu/faculty/pwang.>
Highly motivated individuals with a recent Ph.D., M.D. or Ph.D/M.D and a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, mammalian cell culture, or mouse genetics are encouraged to apply.
