Description

Post-doctoral fellowship positions are available to join an established, funded research group that has just recently moved to the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Division of Cancer Medicine, and the Departments of Lymphoma/ Myeloma and Experimental Therapeutics.

Our basic research interests have focused on the role of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway in normal and malignant cell biology, and on the impact and mechanism of action of agents targeting the proteasome and other pathway components, such as ubiquitin ligases, on models of malignancies such as breast cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.

One especially attractive feature of this work is the opportunity to become involved in research that, in applicable cases, can be translated into pre-clinical in vitro and in vivo tumor models, and eventually into clinical trials that can provide patient-derived samples to validate basic and pre-clinical hypotheses, or to test questions that cannot be addressed pre-clinically.

Importantly, the ultimate aim is to contribute to the design and execution of studies that improve the outcome of patients with newly diagnosed and relapsed/refractory malignancies, and our past studies in this regard have already contributed to the validation of new treatment paradigms and the approval of new drugs.

Motivated and qualified applicants will find that position appointments include competitive salaries and a generous fringe benefit package. More experienced candidates may qualify for a non-tenure track junior faculty appointment either initially, or after the added experience gained during this fellowship. The laboratory itself is located in new facilities on the grounds of the Texas Medical Center southwest of downtown Houston, which is rated in the top-10 for best places to live in the US by CityRating.com.
