Project: Regulation of DNA repair by cyclin-dependent kinases and its role in the maintenance of genome integrity
Dr Fumiko Esashi is setting up a new lab at the WIMM and is seeking a postdoctoral scientist for three years in the first instance.
The project addresses one of the most topical issues in cancer biology concerning dual roles of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) in DNA damage responses. CDK activities are down regulated in the checkpoint response to DNA damage, but are also required for successful error-free DNA repair. It is largely unknown, however, how CDK activities are linked to DNA repair at the molecular level. Understanding this pathway is expected to provide essential insights into how genome integrity is maintained in proliferating cells.
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist who will address this leading-edge research program through a combination of molecular biology, biochemistry and mammalian cell biology. Strong candidates will have good organizational skills, and an ability to work independently and as part of a team. Candidates should have PhD or equivalent qualifications in a relevant subject. For further information please contact Dr Fumiko Esashi (fumiko.esashi@cancer.org.uk) or see our website at www.imm.ox.ac.uk.
