Description

BloodCenter of Wisconsin's Blood Research Institute has two postdoctoral positions to study the mechanisms of NKG2D receptor-mediated NK cell activation and functions (Please see Blood. 2005;105:233-40; Seminars in Immunology. 2006, 18:186-192; JI, 2006, 177:5365-76 and JI. 2007, 179 in press). These positions offer training in basic immunology, molecular biology and biochemistry. Functional interplay between inhibitory Ly49 molecules and the activating NKG2D receptor. Molecular and biochemical elucidation of specific signaling molecules downstream of NKG2D receptor and experience in handling of lab animals for an in-depth understanding of signaling molecules involved in NK cell activation.

Ideal candidates are recent M.D. or Ph.D. graduates with a strong background in immunology, biochemistry or molecular biology.

The Blood Research Institute is located next door to the Medical College of Wisconsin on the campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center.
