Postdoctoral Scholar – Mechanisms of RNA processing in Trypanosomes
Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Ruslan Aphasizhev at the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, UC Irvine School of Medicine. Our NIH-funded program focuses on mechanisms of RNA processing in Trypanosomes. Areas of mitochondrial mRNA editing and small RNAs biogenesis and function are of particular interest. Our collaborations extend into structural biology, mass spectrometry, drug design and bioinformatics.
Requirements - Required qualifications include strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry, and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Experience in RNAi, NGS-based transcriptome analysis, protein purification, mass spectrometry or parasite genetics is desirable, but not required. This position carries a starting salary of $39,264-$42,000 to commensurate with experience, plus health benefits. Funding will be provided for up to three years although fellowship applications are encouraged.
