The College of Pharmacy at UIC is an international leader in translational research and is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship, which is initially for one year, with possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will work in the Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at UIC , investigating molecular genetics and gene expression in psychiatric disorders, in a stimulating state-of-the-art environment of the new Molecular Biology Research Building. The candidate will work in a research team with a strong emphasis on mentorship and training. The goal of the fellowship is to train scientists to become leading researchers in the area of psychiatric genetics.

Duties:
The candidate will work collaboratively with the principal investigator to conceptualize, initiate and execute research projects. Applicants must have a strong passion for research, scientific literature and enjoy tackling challenging problems.

Qualifications:
Applicants with an M.D./Ph.D., Pharm.D./Ph.D., Ph.D or equivalent in any area of the life sciences are invited. Essential criteria of candidates include strong verbal and written communication skills, peer-reviewed publications including a first-author paper, skills in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture and western blotting. Computational skills, statistical genetics and/or experience in testing animal behavior would be desirable. This is an excellent opportunity to develop world class proficiency in molecular genetics, clinical and translational research in psychiatric disorders.
