Project: Genetic Control of Photo- and Thermoperiodism in Nasonia.

Background:
The Biological Centre of the University of Groningen has a vacancy for a post doctoral fellow in a collaborative project of the Departments of Chronobiology and Evolutionary Genetics. The aim of the project is to discover molecular mechanisms underlying photoperiodic and thermoperiodic responses of diapause behaviour in the powerful genetic model system Nasonia vitripennis.

The project is embedded in the Department of Chronobiology (a group of international researchers and students with expertise from modeling to behaviour to molecular clock genetics) and the Department of Evolutionary Genetics (similarly international with expertise from molecular genetics to behaviour of Nasonia and other insects). We are situated in the large and multidisciplinary Biological Centre of the University, 6 km outside the city centre.

Requirements:
a PhD in a biological or related discipline
an excellent academic record (demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications) and be curious, creative, autonomous and ambitious
supervising and organizational skills
enthusiastic and capable in team- and independent work
- fluent in the English language.

Conditions of employment:
The University of Groningen offers a salary dependent on qualifications and work experience up to a maximum of €4190 gross per month for a full time and 8% holiday allowance and participation in a pension scheme for government employees. The appointment is for three years.
