Salary: €40,168 – €45,635 (depending on experience)
Expected start date: October 2007 (or later by arrangement)

One postdoctoral research position is available funded by an Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Fund project entitled: “Particle Engineering of Nanoporous Microparticles – a Platform Technology for Drug Delivery”.
The research programme will involve the development of a novel spray drying process to produce nanoporous microparticles of pharmaceuticals and the physicochemical characterisation of the microparticles produced.
The post holder will be required to adhere to the specific policy of the project concerning the management and exploitation of intellectual property.
Qualification requirements Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, another Pharmaceutical Science or Chemical Engineering, and ideally should have prior postdoctoral experience. The laboratory work will involve spray drying and characterisation studies employing thermal analysis, XRD, FTIR, particle sizing (laser diffraction particle sizing, aerodynamic particle sizing), BET analysis, SEM etc. Applicants should have experience in a number of these techniques.
They should also meet the following requirements:

2. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to deliver to specific deadlines.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to think independently and develop research ideas.
