Institution
Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, University of Manchester, U.K.
Position
Postdoctoral fellowships in chromosome replication and genome stability
Location
Manchester, U.K.
Date Posted
Aug 22 2007
Description
Three positions are available for highly motivated post-doctoral fellows to study the mechanisms by which eukaryotic cells preserve genome stability during chromosome replication. We aim to understand the roles and regulation of “Replisome Progression Complexes” that are built around the MCM helicase at DNA replication forks (Gambus A. et al, (2006), Nature Cell Biology, 8, 358-366; Labib and Gambus, Trends in Cell Biology (2007), 17, 271-278). The components of Replisome Progression Complexes play diverse roles during chromosome replication, in the establishment of cohesion between sister chromatids, checkpoint activation, and other processes that might include the preservation of epigenetic modifications of chromatin. A strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology would be an advantage.
