Job Description:

UA research fellow position is available for up to 5 years in the lab of Dr Luke Chamberlain in the Centre for Integrative Physiology, in the School of Biomedical Sciences, at the University of Edinburgh. A major focus of our research is protein palmitoylation, and in particular how this post-translational modification regulates protein sorting, membrane micro-localisation of proteins, and ultimately protein function (for recent references see: Greaves and Chamberlain (2007) Journal of Cell Biology 176, 249-254; Greaves and Chamberlain (2006) Molecular Biology of the Cell 17, 4748-4759; Salaun, Gould and Chamberlain (2005) Journal of Biological Chemistry 280, 19449-19453). A range of approaches will be employed in this project, including confocal imaging, subcellular fractionation and mass spec analysis of palmitoylated proteins. Both post-doctoral researchers and suitably motivated/qualified postgraduates with relevant research experience are encouraged to apply. This position is available for up to 5 years from 1st October 2007.
