Job Description:

The Weiss Group at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) invites applications for a postdoctoral position with focus on the physics of biomembranes. We are an interdisciplinary team at the interface of biology and physics with a strong focus on transport in the early secretory pathway and the dynamics of biomembranes. To address the complex dynamics of biomembranes, we use advanced light microscopy in vivo and in vitro as well as computer simulations. The successful applicant is expected to work (1) on experimentally quantifying the domain formation in biomembranes in vitro, e.g. by means of light microscopy, or (2) on mesoscopic simulations of membranes and mean-field simulations of transport tin the secretory pathway.

Qualifications and experience:

Applicants are expected to hold a PhD in physics, physical chemistry or cell biology. A strong background in either (i) advanced light microscopy, (ii) physical chemistry of membranes, or (iii) simulation of soft matter is expected.
