The Position: This is a 3 year Postdoctoral Fellowship in soil community ecology funded through the CSIRO Transformational Biology Initiative. The post-doctoral researcher will join a multi-disciplinary team on a project to develop and use emerging technologies for the analysis of microbial community diversity and function in soil. A key component of the project will be to characterise and quantify the impacts of land management practices on functional soil community ecology. Location: Black Mountain, Canberra, ACT Salary: $75K - $82K Plus up to 15.4% superannuation Ref no: ACT00774 Tenure: 3 year term Specifically you will: - Focus on functional genomics of soil microbial communities in relation to key soil bio-geochemical processes with emphasis on soil carbon dynamics
- Investigate the influence of spatial and temporal variation on functional community ecology in response to ecosystem disturbance
- Develop techniques in meta-transcriptome analysis of soil communities will be developed and used to link functional gene expression to key bio-geochemical processes in soil
To be successful you will have: - PhD in soil community ecology or related area either in agricultural or natural systems
- Demonstrated experience and developed knowledge in the understanding and application of molecular techniques in soil biology and/or microbial community analysis
- Strong experimental and molecular experience, particularly with an interest in environmental or ecological research
- A proven record of research publications in peer-reviewed International journals commensurate with research experience, along with capacity to prepare research reports and presentation of scientific findings to a range of audience levels
