Job Number: 4009729
Date Posted: 08/09/2011
Application Deadline:Open Until Filled

Job Description

A post-doctoral research position in computational biology is available at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. The successful applicant will develop and apply methods to study and predict the stability of antibody domains using our Distance Constraint Model, which is able to accurately and rapidly calculate free energies of aqueous proteins. This position will work in the group of Dr. Dennis Livesay (PI, Bioinformatics) and Dr. Donald Jacobs (co-PI, Physics). We are looking for someone with a background in structural bioinformatics and/or computational biophysics. Expertise in protein structure, function and stability must be demonstrated. Programming experience in C++ for practical applications and proficiency in understanding and using advanced object-oriented features is strongly desirable. The successful candidate will be involved in applications related to: (1) development of antibody structure dataset; (2) model parameterization; (3) characterization of stability changes upon site directed mutations within domain-domain interactions; and (4) characterization of the effects of dimerization on antibody flexibility. The appointment is for 1 year, renewable contingent upon funding and satisfactory progress.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Please send a CV, including a list of three references by Email to Prof. Dennis Livesay (drlivesa@uncc.edu), Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, 9201 University City Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28223, USA.
