Description

Applicants are invited for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant with an interest in molecular neurobiology and behavioural neurogenetics to join our Drosophila research group at the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at Queen Mary, University of London.

Our laboratory is interested in resolving the mechanisms that synchronize circadian clocks with the natural environmental cycles of light and temperature using Drosophila as a genetic model system. We are applying state of the art genetic and molecular tools available for the fruit fly to identify novel light- and temperature receptors and their signalling pathways that underlie circadian clock synchronization.

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in biology or have equivalent professional experience. Previous experience in molecular biology, neurobiology, and Drosophila genetics is desirable.

This is a full-time, fixed term post available for three years. The position is funded by the BBSRC. The salary is in the range of £30,079 – £37,332 per annum, depending on qualifications, skills and experience. The salary is inclusive of London allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme and an interest–free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1999.

Informal enquiries for further information may be made to Dr Ralf Stanewsky: r.stanewsky@qmul.ac.uk or see http://stanewsky.org.uk.

Further details and a BLUE application form can be obtained from the School’s website: http://www.sbcs.qmul.ac.uk/vacancies. Alternatively, please visit the Human Resources website on: http://www.hr.qmul.ac.uk/vacancies.
