Job Description

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy/Health Sciences at Wayne State University (WSU) announces multiple post-doctoral fellow positions to contribute to research in insulin resistance and diabetes, drug and gene delivery.

Minimum qualifications based on the funding source regulations:
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident required
• A new hire at WSU required
• Non-WSU graduate required
• PhD in the chemical, biological, medical, pharmaceutical, or life sciences required

Preferred qualifications:
• A strong record of research accomplishments and publications
• The ability to work in a team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

For position #1, the projects in Dr. Zhengping Yi group focus on a better understanding of the basic biology of insulin signaling, and the etiology of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Dr. Yi and his group are using a combination of clinical, biological, and proteomics approaches to study insulin signaling both in vitro in cell models and in vivo in humans. Previous experience in mass spectrometry or animal models is desirable but not required. For position #2 in Drug and Gene delivery, applicants should have a recent PhD degree with strong background in either one of the following areas: (i) biological in vitro and in vivo evaluation of drug and gene delivery systems; or (ii) synthetic organic, medicinal, or polymer chemistry.
