Responsibilities:
• Assesses a patient’s needs, abilities, or behavior using a variety ofmethods, including medical record review, psychometric tests,interviews, and direct observation of behavior.
• Interprets intelligence, achievement, interest, personality, and otherpsychological tests to diagnosis disorders.
• Devises, implements, monitors, and revises as needed appropriateprograms of treatment, including psychotherapy, psycho-education, andcrisis intervention.
• Provides clinical services in accordance with the law and withaccepted ethical principles of the American Psychological Association orcomparable professional organization
• Maintains patient confidentiality
• Works as part of a multidisciplinary team and coordinates care withreferring physician or agencies and other medical staff
• Provides consultation to other medical staff on an as needed basis
• Exercises legal prerogative to commit clients as specified in the Careand Treatment of Mental III Act.
• Documents clinical work according to established procedures.
• Intervenes as a crisis counselor in situations requiring immediatepsychological treatment.
• Communicates with family to further the effectiveness of treatmentprogram.
• Participates in community outreach events in coordination withmarketingand CMO.
• Coordinates with billing and modifies treatment according to insurancecoverage and ability to pay.
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
• Participates in professional development activities and maintainsprofessional affiliations.
• Performs related work as required.
• Following UFH’s commitment to educating the next generation of medicalprofessionals, physicians will be responsible, as part of their ongoingduties, for mentoring, precepting, teaching and supervising UFH fellowsor other relevant trainees.
• Additional job responsibilities as assigned by supervisor, departmentchair or CMO.
• Will agree to serve on at least one hospital/clinic committee.
• Works on quality improvement activities within the department incollaboration with other Internal Medicine physicians and DepartmentChairperson.
• Exemplifies highest levels of professionalism and medical ethics inevery aspect of his or her work and relationships.

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of clinical or counselingpsychology.
• Knowledge of the range of mental disorders according to establisheddiagnostic classification systems (e.g., DSM-IV, ICD-10), with specialexpertise in the diagnosis of Disorders Usually First Diagnosed inInfancy, Childhood, or Adolescence, e.g., autism and other PervasiveDevelopmental Disorders, learning disorders, communication disorders,Attention-Deficit and Disruptive Behavior Disorders.
• Skill in counseling, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationshipswith patients, staff, and the public, with a special ability andinterest in working with children and a culturally diverse population.
• Ability to evaluate, diagnose, treat and commit patients.
• Ability to administer, score, and interpret psychological tests.
• Ability to write reports and document patients’progress.
