1. To offer a standardized mental health assessment referred tocollaboratively determine the most appropriate intervention, includingwhether an urgent response is required and where further support wouldbest be offered. To manage the risks to self and others, when there maybe no other mental health professional support available.
2. To provide a responsive, confidential and specialist counsellingservice to students and make clinical decisions by assessing allrelevant factors with a range of difficulties including depression,anxiety, stress, exam panic, suicidal ideation, self-harm, transitionissues, eating disorders, relationship issues, addictions, identityconflicts, bereavement and other difficulties and refer to externalspecialist services as and when necessary to support the individualneeds.
3. To respond to emergencies and consultation requests from othermembers of the service regarding students who are experiencing mentalhealth crises.
4. To provide front-line assessment, support and referral for studentswith acute and chronic serious mental health issues, including studentsat credible risk of suicide and harm to self or others, and to provideon-call crisis counseling and intervention support to students in need.
5. To provide psychoeducation about anxiety, depression, stress,emotional regulation, relationships, eating concerns, substance abuse,sexual assault and other topics of concern to the welfare of students.
6. To undertake group work and student workshops as appropriate,according to service need and specialist skills in this area, and towork autonomously, carrying and managing a caseload, where the nature ofthe work can be rapid and unpredictable, utilizing time limitedevidenced based interventions for a wide range of mental health difficulties.
7. To advise students regarding reasonable adjustments to study arrangements.

1. Applicants should hold at least a bachelor’s degree in psychology,Counseling, Nursing, Counselor Education, Social Work, or Education.Course work and appropriate training should include individual and groupcounseling, crisis response, psychological assessment, abnormalpsychology or psychopathology, standards of ethical practice andsubstance abuse prevention. They should have at least 3 years ofcounselling experience in universities.
2. Experiences in providing individual or group counseling, and incrisis counseling an intervention to include on-call response andemergency hospitalization procedures, and experience counseling specialpopulations to include those who are at-risk for suicide and victims ofsexual assault and substance abuse. Prior experience working in auniversity counseling center is expected.
3. They should be fluent in Chinese and English. Excellent communicationand interpersonal skills, as well as group work and crisis interventionskills are required.
4. Irregular working hours and on call duties are required.
