Professor Gendie E Lash established the Laboratory of Uterine VascularBiology in the Institute of Pediatrics, Guangzhou Women and Children'sMedical Center, Guangzhou, China in July 2015. Dr Gendie E Lash is aGuangzhou high-level foreign expert and was awarded Guangzhou MedicalKey Talent status in 2016 and National Foreign Expert Program in 2021and 2023 for her outstanding research contributions. She has published150 papers which are cited 5451 times, with an H-index of 41. Dr GendieE Lash graduated from The University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand,and worked at the University of Nottingham (UK), Queen's University(Canada) and Newcastle University (UK). Dr Gendie E Lash is a senioreditor for Molecular Reproduction and Development, associate editor(China) for Placenta, and deputy editor for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Sheis the immediate past editor of Trophoblast Research (supplement toPlacenta), and currently serves on the Editorial Boards of Journal ofReproductive Immunology and Frontiers (Reproduction and ImmuneTolerance). She reviews for a wide range of journals and grant fundingbodies. Dr Gendie E Lash is well-known in the obstetrics and gynecologyfield, and has been invited to speak at many national and internationalacademic conferences. Dr Lash’s research focuses on the role ofplacental and uterine factors in the regulation of trophoblast invasionand spiral artery remodeling, and key maternal adaptations to pregnancyand determining the pathophysiologic mechanism of the pregnancycomplications such as preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction andmiscarriage, with the ultimate goal to provide a theoretical basis forprevention and treatment of these disease and improve the reproductivewellbeing of women. More recently, members of Dr Lash’s laboratory havealso performed several successful studies on ovarian and endometrialcancer. The laboratory is funded by grants from the General Project ofNational Natural Science Foundation of China, Guangzhou Science andTechnology Project and Youth Science Foundation of National NaturalScience Foundation of China, etc. In addition, we were funded byFoundation and Application Foundation Yuehui Union Foundation ofGuangdong Province in 2022. The laboratory is well funded, and thecurrent team is comprised of senior scientists, post-doctoral fellows,technicians and Masters students. The research group works well together.
