Primary Responsibilities:
Examines, diagnoses, and treats illnesses and injuries in the acute caresetting.
Provides immediate diagnosis and resuscitation care for life-threateningconditions, and directs the provision of such care in the prehospitalsetting.
Provides diagnosis and care on the basis of medical history, physicalexamination, and diagnostic tests.
Provides supportive care to patients with serious medical and surgicalconditions until the care of that patient can be assumed by theappropriate specialist for that condition.
Provides definitive or interim care for conditions that, while notlife-threatening, cause discomfort or risk of worsening to the extentthat such care cannot be reasonably delayed until the next availableaccess into a more appropriate source for care. Functions as theprehospital care provider and supervisor in disaster and mass casualtysituations, and provides triage expertise and immediate care skills atthe hospital access level.
Provides training and supervision of nonphysician health care personnelin aspects of prehospital and hospital life-saving care.
Provides training to medical and nursing personnel in aspects ofresuscitations, including identification and treatment of cardiac,traumatic, and infectious emergencies
Provides cross coverage during evenings for inpatient internal medicineward cases..
Provides emergency coverage for resuscitation of adult hospitalizedpatients on a 24 x 7 basis.
Will agree to serve on at least one hospital/departmental committee
Works on quality improvement activities within the department incollaboration with other emergency medicine physicians and DepartmentChairperson
Will work closely with the Department Chairperson in supportingdepartmental goals
May be granted additional responsibilities based on consultation withDepartment Chairperson.
Responsibilities include admitting and managing inpatients, includingthose with internal medicine and surgery-related issues. Jobresponsibilities include writing admission orders, communicating withrelevant specialists (eg, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery)regarding patient care, and providing care for admitted patients in thehospital setting.
Following UFH’s commitment to educating the next generation of medicalprofessionals, physicians will be responsible, as part of their ongoingduties, for mentoring, precepting, teaching and supervising UFH fellowsor other relevant trainees.

Board Certified/Board Eligible (or equivalent) in Emergency MedicineEducation and/or Experience: Doctor of medicine degree (or equivalent)from an approved school of medicine
Preferred:
Completion of residency training in Emergency Medicine at a hospital andprogram acceptable to the Department Chairperson and Chief MedicalOfficer.
Acceptable:
Significant experience working in emergency medicine.
