Description:
Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) has an opening for a postdoc or research scientist position in genetics and Systems biology. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to join our multi-disciplinary research team. Being a biochemistry lab (http://qian.huma.cornell.edu), we aim to integrate systems biology to address fundamental biochemistry questions. We use ribosome profiling coupled with deep-sequencing to analyze genome-wide translation control, and apply genome-wide RNAi screen to dissect protein quality control. We have established collaborations with Cornell Computational Biology Center (http://cbsu.tc.cornell.edu/), Biomedical Systems Biology, and Genome Research Center. This is an excellent opportunity for computational biologists to collaborate with wet bench scientists and develop their own leadership in research projects.
The ideal postdoc candidate should have a Ph.D. and direct experience in high-throughput analysis of biological data (such as microarrays and deep sequencing). For those lacking Ph.D. degree but with strong working experience and skills are encouraged to apply Research Scientist position. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work independently and lead projects in bioinformatics, computational biology and systems biology. In particular, the ability to develop new algorithm to facilitate novel discoveries by using programming language such as PERL or Python is highly desirable. Experience with statistic analytic tools, such as R, SAS, SPLUS, and MatLab, is also required for this position. Familiarity with major biological databases, such as NCBI, ENSEML, is a strong plus.
