At AstraZeneca We are seeking talented scientists who are interested in pursuing an academic-style Postdoc in a global pharmaceutical setting and contributing to AstraZeneca's commitment to delivering innovative medicines. This newly expanded internal pharmaceutical Postdoctoral research program spans multiple therapeutic areas and a wide range of scientific disciplines.

Your comprehensive training program includes a focus on drug discovery and development, as well as exposure to existing local and global Postdoctoral Research communities within AstraZeneca. Postdoctoral scientists will have the opportunity to conduct independent cutting-edge work in state-of-the-art laboratories while teaming with other AstraZeneca scientists.

Each Postdoctoral scientist will also be able to collaborate with a leading academic advisor who will provide further support and guidance. Additionally, the Postdoc will be encouraged to attend and present at international scientific conferences and publish high-profile papers.

Candidate Focus and Challenge:

Understand how novel gene amplifications interact with DNA damage response genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2
Use of CRISPR/TALEN gene editing tools for specific gene manipulation and pharmacological inhibitors in cells
Interface with scientists from across many disciplines while at the same time being able to work independently
Communicate results both within AstraZeneca via global working groups and externally at meetings and publications
Work collaboratively with other experts internally within oncology drug discovery teams and externally with locally-aligned academic advisor
Publish scientific papers in high impact journals
Engage with the growing AstraZeneca postdoctoral community and be developed in an industrial research and discovery atmosphere
Candidate Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Minimum experience:

A Ph.D. from an internationally reputable institution in an appropriate area of cell biology
Must have extensive experience in the field of DNA damage or epigenetics as evidenced by publications in well recognized peer-reviewed journals, oral and/or poster presentations at scientific meetings
Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, lentiviral shRNA/overexpression, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and stable cell line generation
Knowledge of cancer cell signalling, genomics, and ovarian cancer is highly desirable
Experience in interpretation of genomic data is desirabl
 Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred experience/requirements:

A strong scientific track record, as evidenced by published or accepted papers in well recognized peer-reviewed journals, oral and/or poster presentations at scientific meeting
Independently motivated to formulate a research plan around a novel hypothesis
Strong passion & commitment to science, and ability to work well within a group environment
Specific experience in targeted gene manipulations using gene editing tools (CRISPR/TALEN) is desirable but not a pre-requisite for success
