麦吉尔大学造血细胞生物学研究博士后职位

日期:2014-04-08

The Therapeutic Cell Manufacturing Lab led by Dr Corinne Hoesli at McGill is seeking outstanding postdoctoral fellows to work on an industrial contract with a large multinational company. The expected start date is September 2014 and the expected duration of the project is 2 years. The objective of the project is to characterize the effects of cell culture materials on monocytes for clinical applications. The project is part of a collaborative effort with the company, but also with professors Tufenkji, Leask and Moraes at McGill. Although the project is conducted in partnership with industry, the project should result in significant publication and dissemination opportunities.

Candidates should be well-versed in hematopoietic cell biology, preferably with prior experience in monocyte cell biology and culture. Cell biologists and bioengineers with significant experience in cell biology are encouraged to apply. Candidates should be familiar with techniques such as MACS, flow cytometry, Western blotting, qPCR, immunocytochemistry and live cell imaging. Experience with techniques related to materials science (e.g. AFM, ellipsometry) is also desirable. The candidates should be versatile in order to work in a highly multidisciplinary environment that encompasses an industrial partner, clinicians, engineers and cell biologists.

The Therapeutic Cell Manufacturing lab focuses on applying engineering approaches to produce cells for regenerative medicine. The lab works on optimizing stem cell cultures, bioreactor design, process optimization and the design of systems for efficient and safe cell delivery. Past work has focused mainly on islet encapsulation to treat diabetes and developing biomimetic materials to treat cardiovascular disease.

McGill University is the leading medical research university in Canada. McGill is located in Montréal, a vibrant and culturally rich city in the heart of Canada’s mainly francophone province of Québec.

Although Montréal is a largely bilingual city, knowledge of French or willingness to learn French is a distinct asset.http://www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/jobs/401519-postdoctoral-position-in-monocyte-cell-biology-and-biomaterials-industrial-contract
