The University of Illinois is an international leader in translational research and is accepting applications for a postdoctoral scientist. The successful candidate will work in the Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at UIC, investigating molecular genetics and gene expression in psychiatric disorders, in the stimulating, state-of-the-art environment of the new Molecular Biology Research Building. The candidate will work collaboratively with the principal investigator, in a research group with a strong emphasis on mentorship and training.
Applicants with an M.D./Ph.D., Pharm.D./Ph.D., Ph.D or equivalent in any area of the life sciences are invited. We are seeking to hire a candidate with ambition, and the ability to prioritize with firm deadlines. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively (both written & verbal). The candidate must have strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented, be adaptable to changing priorities, diplomatic and have good judgment. It is essential that he/she is a team-player and collaborative, with initiative and follow-through. Other essential criteria include first-author, peer-reviewed publication(s), skills in molecular biology, molecular genetic techniques including PCR, cell culture and western blotting. Expertize in statistical genetics, neuroanatomy and/or testing animal behavior would be desirable. This is an excellent opportunity to develop expertize in psychiatric genetics and translational research in psychiatric disorders. Own transport and a clean driving license are required.
