日本定量生物学中心生物电子研究博士后职位

日期:2013-11-01

Description

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher in the emerging, multidisciplinary field of bioelectronics.
The lab’s core competences are biosensors, nanotechnology and neuroscience. We are designing novel circuits in  CMOS-technology, using micromachining and nanotechnology to integrate transducers onto  CMOS  substrates and apply such sensor to biological measurements. Our two main research directions are high-resolution microelectrode arrays for interaction with neurons and large-scale integration of nanoscale devices into  CMOS  substrates for molecular-level sensing. Our lab is at the  RIKEN  Quantitative Biology Center, a system biology center that focuses on the design of new measurement and analysis techniques to study complex biological system. We have access to state-of-the-art biological facilities, micro- and nanofabrication facilities and IC-EDA  tools.

We are seeking to strengthen our efforts in molecular sensing using nanobiosensors (e.g. carbon nanotubes). We are especially keen in hiring an expert on the applications of biosensors, with a background in label-free biomolecule detection (such as  DNA, proteins, neurotransmitters, etc.).

Qualifications

This position requires a research background and a doctoral degree in engineering, biology, chemistry, physics or related. In particular, a PhD and working experience in nanotechnology, biochemistry or biosensors is preferred. Knowledge in label-free molecular sensing schemes is a plus. The candidate should be able to work independently and be comfortable in taking a leading role in his/her research project. Any candidate must be able to fluently communicate in English and be willing to work in an international, multidisciplinary, and interactive environment.

Application package

  • Cover letter with research interest
  • Curriculum vitae
  • List of publications and other research achievements
  • At least one letter of recommendation (two preferred) with contact information

Please write all documents in English. In case you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Urs Frey via e-mail:  ufrey@riken.jp
