The incumbent of this position will be expected to pursue experimental studies on different aspects of lung cancer biology, such as

1. To understand genetic factors contributing to chemotherapy and radiation resistance utilizing high-throughput knockdown studies and functional validation of defined candidate targets,
2. Identify novel actionable oncogenes utilizing high-throughput sequencing studies of defined and unique subsets of lung tumors and genetic and functional validation of candidate genes.
3. To conduct experimental work such as tissue culture, Western blotting, chemotherapy and radiation resistance studies, invasion/metastasis studies, drug treatment experiments, xenograft mouse studies to assess the function of candidate targets
4. To coordinate experiments pursued in collaboration with core facilities at Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as key collaborators at Columbia University

Supervision will be provided by principal investigator through weekly laboratory meetings, weekly one on one research discussions as well as ad hoc meetings as necessary.

This position will require the ability to quickly learn experimental methods to the point that they could be performed independently with results reviewed during lab meetings and supervision and advice incorporated then into future experiments.

Basic understanding of techniques used in routine cell and molecular biology work as well as basic knowledge of cancer biology

Minimum Requirements:

PhD, MD or both
