job description:

Postdoctoral Scholar in Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Neocortical Seizures

A postdoctoral position is available for research and training on the mechanisms of neocortical seizures. The goal is to identify the mechanisms that normally restrict the spatial spread of neural activity but that, when damaged, allows the propagation of neural activity which results in partial seizures. Studies will be carried out in a slice preparation taken from both human tissue and brain tissue from an animal model of partial seizures. The techniques we use include: electrophysiological measurement of neural activity and flavoprotein autofluorescence imaging.

The postdoc will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of neurobiologists, neurologists, computational neuroscientists, and mathematicians, although the work will be primarily neurobiology. Candidates must have a recent PhD in neuroscience. An appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience will be considered. Salary will follow NIH guidelines commensurate with training and experience.
