Post docs within Synthetic Bioorganic Chemistry and Computational Chemistry

The Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen

Department of Natural Sciences wishes to appoint two post docs withinSynthetic Bioorganic Chemistry and Computational Chemistry from June 1st2008, to May 31st 2010.

Job description
The post doc’s duties will include research within Synthetic BioorganicChemistry and Computational Chemistry. The posts may include teaching toa limited extent.

The appointee should have qualifications within the following areas:

One position in synthetic bioorganic chemistry

* Synthetic (bio)organic chemistry
* Interest in biochemistry
* Experience with NMR, HPLC, mass spectrometry is advantageous

One position in Computational Chemistry

* Proven experience with modelling molecular structure using MM andMD methods
* Preferably have experience with QM and/or bioinformatics methods
* Have an interest in biochemistry and macromolecular structure and dynamics
* Be a team player who can interact with experimentalists and isable to work independently and systematically on problems within therealm of the project.

The post is financed by a NABIIT grant

Qualification requirements
In connection with the appointment to the post special importance willbe attached to the applicant having the professional and personalqualifications stated below:

* Documented scientific qualifications such as a Ph.D. or equivalentin relation to the above subject area(s)
* Fluency in English. Life generally encourages employees who do notspeak Danish to acquire a working knowledge of the language.

The post doc is also required to be enterprising and to possess goodinterpersonal skills.

Terms of employment
The post will be filled according to the Agreement between the DanishMinistry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of ProfessionalAssociations. The post is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure.

Application
The application must be submitted in 3 (sorted) copies. The applicationmust include a reply e-mail address. Each application must include thefollowing appendices marked with the stated appendix numbers:

Appendix 1: curriculum vitae with documentation of education.
Appendix 2: a complete list of publications and list of submitted appendices.
Appendix 3: a maximum of 10 relevant scientific works which theapplicant wishes to be included in the assessment.
Appendix 4: documentation of research and teaching qualifications.
The application must be accompanied by:

* A CD-ROM in Word XP/2003 legible format with appendices 1 and 2.

In addition to the material the applicant wishes to be included in theassessment, the Assessment Committee may include further material intheir assessment of the applicant. In such circumstances, it is theresponsibility of the applicant, on request, to send the material to the Committee.

Following processing of the application, any application material sentwill be destroyed.

Receipt of the application will not be acknowledged, but the applicantwill be kept continuously informed of the progress of the application.

The applicant will be assessed according to the Ministry of ScienceTechnology and Innovation Executive Order no 92 of 22nd February 2008.

The application, marked 621-621-160 should be sent to The Faculty ofLife Sciences, Bülowsvej 17, DK-1870 Frederiksberg, where it must bereceived no later than April 7th 2008 at 12.00 noon. Applicationsreceived after the closing date for applications will not be considered.
