Postdoctoral Healthcare Scientist (Ref: ODHS 02/08)

UCL Gene Therapy Consortium

The newly established UCL Gene Therapy Consortium is a global researchand development program funded by the Wellcome Trust, and based in theUCL Cancer Institute. Its mission is to coordinate gene therapyactivities on the UCL campus and develop resources for manufacturingclinical grade gene transfer vectors. UCL encompasses one of thestrongest concentrations of biomedical research in Europe, associatedwith world class healthcare centres such as the Royal Free Hospital, theMoorefield Eye Hospital and the Great Ormond Street Hospital. It is anideal setting for the development of gene therapy and currently, severalclinical trials are active or have received regulatory approval.

We are looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Healthcare Scientist, to bebased at The Institute of Child Health, Gene Therapy Laboratory, GreatOrmond Street Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for performing the manipulations ofhuman cells in clinical gene transfer and cellular studies. They willassist in the routine running of the gene therapy laboratory, writingprotocols and policies and supervising/training junior staff.

The salary will be on the UCL grade 8 (£36,351-£42,907pa) inclusive ofLondon Weighting. Appointments are normally made to the bottom range ofthis scale.
