Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Research on: The roles of non-coding and protein-coding genes in theevolutionary expansion of the cerebral cortex.

We have a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work on theroles of non-coding and protein-coding genes in the evolutionaryexpansion of the cerebral cortex. This research will involve both invivo and in vitro work. The successful applicant will perform theexperiments requiring molecular genetics, histology, tissue culture andwill also receive some training on the analysis of genomics data. Therange of experimental techniques and analytical methods make this postattractive for career development. The post is funded by the BBSRC for 3 years.

This is a collaborative project between the Department of Physiology,Anatomy and Genetics (Z. Molnar), the MRC Functional Genetics Unit (C.Ponting and K.E. Davies) and NIH- NHGRI (E. Green). The post will bebased at the laboratory of Zoltan Molnar at the Department ofPhysiology, Anatomy and Genetics. The ideal candidate will haveexpertise in mouse genetics, molecular and cellular biology of CNS andan interest in the evolutionary developmental biology of the cerebral cortex.
