*Postdoctoral Fellowship – Restriction Enzyme Division – Job Code 1042RM *
The Restriction Enzyme Division invites applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship in restriction enzyme engineering. Projects will be part of a basic research program investigating protein-DNA interactions that lead to specific DNA recognition. These projects will involve detailed analysis of sequence-recognition mechanisms through rational protein engineering, and the engineering of restriction endonucleases to achieve altered enzymatic properties. Solid experience in protein biochemistry and structural enzymology is a plus.
The ideal candidate will:
• Have a strong interest in protein engineering, structure and discovery
• Be goal oriented within a team framework with exceptional attention to detail
• Work under the guidance of an established senior scientist
• Be passionate about their research, and display a strong work ethic that emphasizes both efficiency and quality
Qualifications:
• Ph.D in structural molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields
• Bench experience with molecular cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, protein purification and enzymatic assays
• Experience in structure modeling and familiarity with common structure visualization and manipulation software
• Demonstrate a high level of initiative in performing experiments, analyzing data, performing calculations and drawing conclusions regarding progress and results of work
• Hands-on experience with techniques of X-ray crystallographic structure determination
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
