Description

The person filling this position should have at least a graduate leveldegree (MS, MD, Ph. D.) with 2-3 years experience in molecular and/orcell biology. This person will perform a variety of laboratoryprocedures including tissue culture, organ culture perfusion physiology,virus production, RNA isolation and analyses, as well as biochemicalanalyses. We are interested in developing directed gene therapy forglaucoma as well as in examining the molecular mechanisms of certainpharmaceuticals and utilize an integrated approach requiringmorphological, biochemical, immunochemical and molecular approaches.Thisperson will also dedicate between 20-40% of their time supervisingtechnicians and post-doctoral researchers.

Minimum 2-3 years general laboratory experience post-graduate degree.
Establish primary cell cultures; maintain established cell lines forvirus production.
Experience with Viral Plasmid construct preferred.Basic Techniques forProtein Analyses: SDS-PAGE, Western blot analyses, chemi-illuminescence,immunofluorescence microscopy, and chromatography.
Basic Techniques for Nucleic Acids: Isolation of total RNA from tissuesand cells, RT-PCR and PCR analyses, PCR-RFLP, and DNA sequencing. Someexperience with quantitative RT-PCR preferred.
Data recording, preparation and analysis using standard computerprograms, i.e. Excel, Photoshop, etc.
General laboratory management.
Organizational and communication skills a must.
