Description

An NIH funded postdoctoral position is available to study earlyembryonic development of the pancreas. We use the amphibian, Xenopuslaevis, as our model system to elucidate the transcriptional hierarchythat operates during pancreatic cell fate specification. In particular, the lab is focused on understanding how early endodermal progenitorcells are specified into the various pancreatic lineages and determiningif the same signaling pathways are utilized during the conversion ofliver to pancreas. For details please see our recent publication"Differential ability of Ptf1a and Ptf1a-VP16 to convert stomach, duodenum and liver to pancreas" Dev Biol. 304(2):786-99 or visitour website at http://www.ircm.qc.ca/microsites/horb/en/.

There are several ongoing projects including:
1) Elucidating pancreatic transcriptional regulatory networks
2) Transdifferentiation of liver to pancreas
3) Identification of new genes involved in pancreatic cell fate specification.

Candidates should have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree. Preference willbe given to candidates with experience in developmental biology andmolecular biology.
