Summary: Applications are invited for two postdoctoral positions and a research specialist in the area of Human Embryonic Stem Cells (hESCs) and induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs) in Dr. Guokai Chen’s group at the University of Macau (http://fhs.umac.mo/staff/academic-staff/chen-guokai/). The lab is interested in the development of new stem cell technologies for translational applications1,2,3,4. The lab currently focuses on stem cell differentiation to specific cell types under chemically defined conditions. It also works on the nutritional regulation on stem cell metabolism. We are seeking highly motivated candidates to join us to explore exciting applications of human pluripotent stem cells.
Responsibilities: The Postdoctoral Fellows will be responsible for developing differentiation procedures to produce specific cell types that could be used in disease discovery and potentially cell therapies. The Postdoctoral Fellows will identify novel factors or procedures that would allow large scale cell differentiation under chemically defined conditions. The Research Specialist will provide technical assistance and stem cell training in the iPSC Core Facility. At the same time, independent research projects will be assigned to develop technologies with urgent needs.
The complexity of stem cell regulations will require a creative mind and a candidate capable of deploying imaginative strategies and who is dedicated to solving complex and challenging problems facing stem cell applications in translational research.
Requirements: Candidates must have a PhD in biology, medicine, bioinformatics, chemistry, or a related field.
Preferences: Preferred requirements for this position include experience in stem cell biology, embryogenesis, metabolic regulation and chemistry. Experience in bioinformatics is a big plus and preferred.
Terms: The positions are available immediately and can be renewed annually.
How to apply: Email applications including curriculum vitae, summary statement of personal objectives, and the names and email addresses of 2-3 references to Guokai Chen (email@example.com).
