Job Description:
POSTDOCTORAL POSITION (3 years) - Canadian Institutes of Health Research-funded postdoctoral position available in the Division of Neurodegenerative Disorders at St Boniface Research Centre campus in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.
Position for a postdoctoral fellow available immediately in the Cell Biology of Neurodegeneration laboratory located at the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Centre. Project will study impact of experimental diabetes on calcium homeostasis in adult sensory neurons. The rationale is that impaired calcium homeostasis contributes to the etiology of diabetic sensory neuropathy.
The applicant must possess skills in real time intracellular Ca2+ imaging, assessment of mitochondrial function and neuronal cell culture. Additional experience with adenoviral or lentiviral delivery and over-expression of siRNAs or mutant genes would be ideal (see website for more details of project: http://www.sbrc.ca/dnd/index.php?pid=2500&mid=2501&rid=11.
The principal investigator is currently funded by Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Canadian Diabetes Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (USA), National Sciences & Engineering Research Council, Manitoba Health Research Council and the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
